Workshops

Its a passion of mine to design Workshops that inspire new perspectives, bring us together to learn from each other, build connections with our creativity and get to know our deeper selves along the way.
Below are some examples of what I have offered over the years.
The inner workings of the imagination and the creative process have always fascinated me so I continue to invent and develop programs that enrich, support and aim to inspire. Please contact me if you want to experience the process... and I'm always up for a collaboration!

Acting Through Archetypes

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.” - Rumi

The Acting through Archetypes Workshop approach is a way to access aspects of our inner selves that serve in making our acting rich, dynamic and fully embodied. These facets are met, fleshed out and integrated into our acting. This approach is physically, vocally, mentally and emotionally demanding yet matched with the joy that comes from overcoming the inner struggles that keep us from realizing our potential as actors. Some common Archetypes explored are The Caged Bird, The Revolutionary, The Ice Queen, The Visionary, The Lover and many more.

Navigating through blockages that inevitably come up, together we identify any beliefs, attitudes or mind sets that are limiting us from expressing the essence of the character; performance anxiety, perfectionism and self criticism are big ones!

We use Mask, Movement, Monologue, Partner and Group Exercises to develop character through recognizing key Archetypal patterns, recurring motifs of behaviour, desires, images and energy that inspire and influence us the most.  With intention, awareness and compassion we find meaning through our characters. We experiment, play and  grow as artists, taking responsibility for what we are mirroring to each other and to the world.

I originally began Acting Through Feminine Archetypes with small groups of women in 2015. The purpose was to build authentic connections between the young women in our community here in Vancouver, to support their growth as independent actor artists and offer continued mentorship. It is such a delight to witness an actor tapping into their artistic potential and take a leap into the unknown with courage and vulnerability. Stops me in my tracks every time!

Creative Allies

"Creativity is intelligence having fun." -- Albert Einstein

This Online Workshop was born out of my desire to bring Artists and Performers together  to explore, share and support each other in what it is to live as creatively as possible. We explore themes that are relevant to what we are currently experiencing and curious about. Here is where the Personal Coaching meets the artists life. We use writing prompts, visualization exercises, stories and discussion. One on One Personal Coaching takes place in between monthly group workshops to deepen the learning that happens with the group and participants are given fieldwork to forward the action that is taking place.

Scene Study

"An actor has to burn inside with an outer ease."
- Michael Chekhov

This ongoing Scene Study Workshop is for actors who want a place to work out and keep growing. Using both Film or Theatre scenes we explore text analysis, character development with relaxation and imaginative techniques. We also  practice recognizing and strengthening what is already working in our acting process. We delve into emotional resonance and the physicality of the character plus so much more.
This Scene Study Workshop takes place over 8 weeks several times a year in a Vancouver East Side Studio as well as Online. It's for actors who crave an independent indepth approach. Its for those who value a laid back, creative space and honest feedback from the instructor. It’s for actors at any level,  who want to work safely, imaginatively with courage and vulnerability.
